Paddling Trips

in the

Wildcat Creek Watershed

Numerous canoeing and kayaking opportunities exist within the Wildcat Creek Watershed.

The main-stem of Wildcat Creek (aka The North Fork) is canoeable throughout its entire 82-mile length. The "Lower Valley" (downstream from Burlington) is included in the Indiana Natural & Scenic Rivers System, and is one of the finest year-round canoeing streams in the Mid-West. The "Upper Valley" is more developed, but still holds many pleasant paddling opportunities.

The South Fork of Wildcat Creek is equally popular as a canoe trip destination, except during extremely dry summers. The 10-mile reach downstream from Dayton is also a component of the Indiana Natural & Scenic Rivers System.

Several smaller tributaries are canoeable only during wet weather, and can be attractive alternatives. However, these streams have never become popular destinations due to limited access and other problems.
